Biography
Dr. Silvina Alvarez is an Associate Professor at the National University of San Luis and a Research Member at IMIBIO-SL, CONICET. She earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the National University of San Luis in 2005, focusing on cadmium toxicology in the prostate. She completed postdoctoral research at VCU School of Medicine, studying astrocyte-specific NFI-X modifications in brain tumors and molecular mechanisms in artery contractions related to hypertension. Dr. Alvarez’s research centers on cadmium toxicology, nutrient effects on cell metabolism, and molecular mechanisms of disease. She directs the Laboratory of Nutrition, Environment, and Cell Metabolism.
