Biography

Professor Azza Mahmoud Kamel is an Emeritus Professor of Clinical Pathology at the National Cancer Institute with extensive expertise in hematology, immunology, leukemia diagnostics, flow cytometry, and bone marrow transplantation. She obtained her MB BCh, MSc, and MD degrees from Cairo University and has held several leading academic and administrative positions, including Founder and Head of the Bone Marrow Transplantation Laboratory Unit and Head of the Clinical Pathology Department. Throughout her distinguished career, she participated in advanced international training and collaborative research programs with renowned institutions including Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the National Institutes of Health. Professor Kamel has supervised numerous postgraduate theses, organized international workshops in molecular biology and laboratory accreditation, and contributed extensively to research in leukemia, stem cell transplantation, immunogenetics, and minimal residual disease. She has published more than 180 scientific papers, achieved a Scopus H-index of 15 with over 900 citations, and received multiple prestigious national and international awards for her scientific contributions and excellence in clinical hematology.
