Biography

Dr. Xiuran Wang is an Associate Researcher at Shandong Provincial Hospital, Shandong First Medical University & Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, China. He received his PhD in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Jilin University, China, following his Master's degree in Microbiology and Bachelor's degree in Biology from Northeast Normal University. He also completed a postdoctoral research position at Albany Medical College, USA, from 2017 to 2021, and previously worked as a visiting scientist at the University of Alberta, Canada. Dr. Wang has extensive research and academic experience in microbiology, preventive veterinary medicine, bacterial vaccine development, immunology, and infectious disease control. Prior to joining Shandong Provincial Hospital, he served as an Associate Professor and Lecturer at the School of Life Science, Jilin Agricultural University. His research has primarily focused on the development of innovative bacterial vaccine platforms, including outer membrane vesicle (OMV) vaccines, attenuated bacterial strains, and bacterial ghost vaccines. His work involves genetic modification and heterologous antigen expression to develop highly immunogenic vaccine candidates and evaluate their protective efficacy and immunogenicity against bacterial infections. He also investigates immune response regulation, particularly the mechanisms underlying cellular and humoral immunity and their roles in vaccine-induced protection. Dr. Wang has contributed to research on bacterial diagnosis and control through the development of serum- and nucleic-acid-based diagnostic approaches. His research has been published in internationally recognized journals, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, Infection and Immunity, mSphere, and PLOS ONE. He has also contributed to several patents related to vaccine development, bacterial biotechnology, immunological enhancement, and biotechnology applications.
