Biography
**Dr. Shabnam Khan** is an experienced Molecular Technologist and Quality Manager with over 10 years of professional experience in molecular diagnostics, clinical laboratory practice, laboratory quality management, and biosafety. She currently serves as a Senior Molecular Technologist and Quality Manager at Alkhidmat Diagnostic Center & Hospital, where she is involved in molecular testing, quality management systems, laboratory audits, staff training, and the implementation of international quality and biosafety standards. She holds an MPhil in Clinical Microbiology and Immunology and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Microbiology at the University of Karachi, Pakistan, with research work conducted at Aga Khan University. Her professional expertise includes molecular diagnostics, PCR-based testing, infectious disease diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance, laboratory quality systems, and biorisk management. Dr. Khan is a certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor by CQI & IRCA and an IFBA Certified Professional in Biorisk Management. She has additional training and expertise in ISO 15189 assessment, ISO 35001 biorisk management, laboratory quality assurance, internal auditing, SOP development, equipment management, and staff training. She has extensive hands-on experience with molecular diagnostic platforms and technologies, including PCR, NAT, conventional PCR, HCV genotyping, and bioinformatics. Throughout her career, she has contributed to the establishment and coordination of molecular diagnostic services, including the setup and validation of COVID-19 testing laboratories. Her research work and publications have focused on areas including drinking water quality, laboratory biosafety practices, and antimicrobial activity. Her multidisciplinary professional background enables her to contribute valuable expertise to molecular microbiology, infectious diseases, diagnostic laboratory sciences, and laboratory quality management.
