Biography
Dr. Piri is an associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of California Los Angeles. The main directions in his research are: defining the mechanisms leading to retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration in glaucomatous neuropathy; developing strategies for preserving RGCs against neurodegeneration; and identifying new genes critical for RGC function/integrity and for morphological/functional differences between various types of RGCs.
