Biography
Dr. Kanashiro-Takeuchi is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She graduated from Sao Paulo State University, Veterinary School, Brazil and received her M.S. (2000) and Ph.D. (2004) from Federal University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She subsequently conducted her postdoctoral training at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2005-2006) and University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (2007-2011), which provided her with practical research skills in many aspects of the cardiovascular investigation, including those with ischemic and non-ischemic etiologies that mimic common human disorders. Over the past few years her research efforts have focused on the activation of cytokines and/or hormonal signalling pathways as potential therapeutic approaches for congestive heart failure.
Research Interest
Heart failure, myocardial infarction, cardiac remodeling, cardiac regeneration, cytokines and/or growth factors and stem cells.
