Biography

Dr. Anthony DeCaprio is an analytical toxicologist who is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and faculty member in the International Forensic Research Institute (IFRI) at Florida International University. He also directs the IFRI Forensic and Analytical Toxicology Facility and the Forensic Science Certificate Program at FIU. He received a B.S. in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Ph.D. in toxicology from Albany Medical College. Dr. DeCaprio’s areas of research include theory and application of biomonitoring and biomarkers in forensic toxicology and methods for MS-based ultra-trace analysis of drugs and their metabolites, with particular emphasis on emerging drugs of abuse. Dr. DeCaprio has authored over 75 scientific articles and book chapters and is editor of the book Toxicologic Biomarkers. His research has been funded by NIJ, NIOSH, NIH, USEPA, and CDC.

Research Interest

Forensic toxicology, mass spectrometry, exposure biomarkers, biomonitoring, protein modification by drugs and chemicals.
